Maggie Tyner - Editor
What I Do
I've played an integral role in managing content publication on USA TODAY 10Best for the past decade. In my previous position as Lead Editor, I managed the editorial calendar and was responsible for planning, assigning, creating, editing, fact-checking, updating, and publishing evergreen content across a variety of platforms. I wrote and edited content in numerous formats, including articles, slideshows, video scripts, voice scripts, and newsletters.
In addition to making effective use of Parse.ly, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, and Conductor, I utilized SEO best practices and a variety of optimization tools to ensure that we were putting our best and most impactful foot forward, from trending topics to metadata. I worked across teams, from sales to syndication to product development, and was involved in virtually every stage of content creation and distribution.
More recently as a consultant and freelance editor, I led the charge in re-envisioning 10Best's flagship Readers' Choice Awards product, shaping both the business and content strategy through keyword research, trend analysis, and historical analytics. Following the re-launch in January 2023, gains in engagement and revenue have been significant. My ongoing work with Readers' Choice Awards includes content planning, editing, fact-checking, and monetization via affiliate links.
More About Me
Over the years, I've nurtured an enduring love of so many forms of art and entertainment — books, movies, television, music, fashion, cooking, gaming, podcasting — where I'm sometimes creator but mostly consumer (for now!).
I'm always on the lookout for a new and exciting recipe to try, a good sale at Anthropologie or Madewell, and the latest streaming sensation. I'm a force to be reckoned with in just about any racing game, from Mario Kart to Forza Horizon (4 is my top pick in the series, by the way). My favorite movie of all time is The Thin Man, and my interests in music currently center around artists like Pearl & The Oysters, Tennis, and Crumb.
My current hobbies include rowing, building gigantic LEGO sets (a great wind-down activity after a stressful day), and learning to code in Python.
